Community Impact Plan - Hunger

This blog is the second blog in our Community Impact Plan Blog Series. Previously covered in this blog series:

1st Step Children - https://www.btfprogram.com/blog/community-impact-plan-first-step

In the last blog I wrote on the BTF Community Impact Plan, I spoke about the first step that I’ve taken in the places that I’ve been. The first step that I’ve taken has been planning impact with the children of the local community.

In doing this, one of the things that has been a topic at most of the schools and organizations we’ve worked with is hunger. Many schools and organizations have it logistically set up and planned for the kids they serve to be provided extra meals to supplement the daily nutrition they receive. When getting to know the people who are helping provide those meals I was introduced to dedicated individuals who service the entire city, county or state. After strategic meetings with these individuals and hearing about their purpose and plan to fight the hunger of those they bless, we would partner with them to provide hands and feet to their mission.

If you are looking to fight hunger in your area, look for the following groups who may already have a plan in place:

  • Local school district programs

  • Local pantry

  • Local places of worship

  • Local colleges and universities

  • Local organizations

  • Nationwide organizations with branches in your city

  • Worldwide organizations with branches in your city

  • Food drives, especially around the holidays

There are many ways to impact your local community by fighting hunger. Please find something to get involved with and begin the generational impact in the feeding of many.

Here are some facts about hunger in the USA, these facts were taken from the Feeding Hunger website.(https://www.feedingamerica.org/hunger-in-america

Facts about hunger in America

According to the USDA, more than 38 million people, including 12 million children, in the United States are food insecure.

The pandemic has increased food insecurity among families with children and communities of color, who already faced hunger at much higher rates before the pandemic.

Every community in the country is home to families who face hunger. But rural communities are especially hard hit by hunger.

Many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and visit their local food banks and other food programs for extra support.

Hunger in African American, Latino, and  Native American communities is higher because of systemic racial injustice. To achieve a hunger-free America, we must address the root causes of hunger and structural and systemic inequities.

God bless! Have a great day and CREATE GENERATIONAL IMPACT TODAY!.
