Same purpose. NEW PHILOSOPHY.

It’s been a while, but we are back. After publishing the book, my world became completely overwhelming at times. Moving to Waco, starting a new position, my family traveling to Waco and spring football starting here at Baylor filled my schedule. When I was able to reach out to those who purchased the book or had interest in the book, there were four things that stood out to me in these interactions. I honestly did not expect to have the feedback from the book to change my thought process in how I wanted to help people. I knew that there would be meaningful suggestions and observations from those who read the book. But I was not prepared for the total mindset change that would ensue.

As a marketing minor in college, I wanted to simplify our messaging but make sure that it didn’t pull away from the overall purpose of generational impact. I thought about it for many days. I couldn’t come up with a clear and concise message. Last week I had a eureka moment, when I asked myself what has the BTF Program and the Beyond the Field EBook done for people. These four things came to mind and were a result of my conversations with others:

  1. Student-Athlete Impact

  2. Player Development Education

  3. Athletic Professionals Support

  4. Individual Inspiration

Student-Athlete Impact

This has always been a personal desire of mine. After getting feedback from the book, it was great to see people in many positions saying that they were using some examples from the book for their programming. I knew that this book would help others with their impact on their campus but it’s a different level of affirmation when you hear it from other professionals.

Player Development Education

One of the questions I have been asked the most is, “What is player development?” “What do you do?”. I wanted this book to be a deeper dive into the player development role and what I have done in the role. Player development looks different for many other programs, but I wanted to give the reader a basis for what it can look like. I received a message from one reader that said, “I am highly interested in player development, so the book made me realize even further that this is the right role for me.” This made my day. I am passionate about the player development role and desire to give others a better understanding of the role and its benefit.

Athletic Professionals Support

As mentioned earlier receiving the messages from various professionals about the book was a great experience. I want this platform to help, guide and lead professionals in the athletic industry to better realize the impact they can make. I want this platform to be a reference spot for administrators, coaches and others who realize the greater aspect of development and need a place to start.

*This support is not only relegated to athletic professionals. I believe the platform can help any professional create impact in others’ lives. *

Individual Inspiration

I received messages from people who said that my writing of the book inspired them. Some were inspired to find their own ways of being an influence on others. Some were inspired to take the next step on a personal goal they had.  Whatever that looks like, I am here for it. The action of inspiring others is one that I desire daily.

There it is. This is it. This is the new philosophy of the Beyond the Field Program. This is how we will conduct business from this point on. I am thankful that you took the time to read this blog. There will be more resources that will be added to the website here soon. I have some things planned that will take the BTF Program to the next level. Be on the lookout. Once again, thank you for reading and I pray that you have a GREAT DAY. Impact a life today, you never know how far it will go.
