The 4 Things You Need To MAXIMIZE Player Development Impact in 2024

As the year is ending and the new year is on the horizon I wanted to share with you 4 resources that will take your player development impact and experience to the next level.

I originally wanted to end the year with the 100 Tips of Player Development episode, but decided to add this newsletter and podcast episode to discuss how I can help you in the role. I am focusing more on the business side of Beyond The Field in 2024 and in doing so I want to make sure every I communicate this with those who have received value from Beyond The Field. So when you look at these resources, do not just glaze over and say that is awesome. I want you to think deep, with the understanding that BTF is a business, which WILL help you in your path to the role or you current state in the role.

Alright, I got that message to you, so here are the 4 things which will help you in the role.

Courses

The courses are special to me because I ensure those who take the course are equipped with what they need to succeed in the role.

There are two types of courses: online and live cohort.

The online course is a self-paced course with downloadable documents to help you not only learn but create and implement the strategies you learned. In this course you will define player development, understand the six main types of player development, explore the ten areas of player development, create a player development outline and finish by putting together your player development plan..

Online Course

The live cohort course is a more in-depth experience where you are in a cohort with others as we walk through 4-5 weeks on intentional curriculum. The course includes all mentioned above in the self-paced course. This course exclusively has the following taught: player development messaging, interview preparation, 90 day gameplan, player development external checklist, yearly programming calendar, best practices for programming, player involvement/engagement, end of year reviews, quantify player development, and head coach/administration communication.

LIVE Course Cohort

These two are resources built for you and where you are currently in your journey. If interested in either, the links are above.

Books

Insert Reading Rainbow and all other reading initiatives from the 90s. Millennials unite. HA!

But seriously, I wrote two books which will help you in the role.

The first is the Player Development Guide. This books details the Beyond The Field program and walks you through the programming and structures I have used to find success in the role.

The second is the Head Coaches Guide to Player Development. This book is written to coaches and administrators and gives them a deep look into how player development will impact their program. This book is also a good tool to use for those who need to communicate the importance of player development to their head coach, coaches, or administration.

You can find those two books by clicking the link below. S/o to George Midgett for helping with these.

Coaching

I am a COACH! I was a HS Coach for six years and I love coaching. I love the aspect of helping someone get to a place where they could not get to by themselves. I love helping others achieve their goals in a more effective and efficient manner.

With all that said, I want to continue coaching by instructing, leading, walking with, and preparing those in player development.

This player development coaching program is the most comprehensive of all the resources listed. This will be a six month program with constant communication and frequent one-on-one to help the person realize the goals they have set in this space.
